Application

Do I have to use a hair dryer to apply the Nail Shields.

You must use a heat source when applying the Nail Shields. We recommend using a hair dryer, but other heat sources may be used as well.

Do I need to apply a base or top coat?

No. If you're very active you may consider applying a thin line of nail glue along the edges.

Do I have to be certified to apply the Nail Shields?

No. Anyone can apply Jamberry Nail Shields!

If they start to lift and have only been on for a few days can I re-heat with the hair dryer to seal them back down?

If they start to peel after being on for only a few days they may not have been applied correctly. Correct application will ensure a longer lasting Nail Shield. We wouldn't recommend re-heating them on the nail, but rather would suggest removing the nail shield and applying a new one.

Will Jamberry Nail Shields leave a residue or ruin my nail?

No.

What if my nail is too big or too small for the Nail Shield?

If your nail is too small, you can easily trim the Nail Shield with nail scissors for a better fit. If your nail is too big, try stretching the Nail Shield after it’s been warmed with the hair dryer to fit your nail. When warm, the Nail Shield will be pliable.

Can I go swimming wearing the Nail Shields?

Yes. The adhesive on the Nail Shields are pressure and heat sensitive and create a waterproof seal if they are applied correctly.

What do you mean by “correct application?

  1. Applying the nail shield to a clean dry nail free of nail polish.
  2. Using enough heat.
  3. Using enough pressure.
  4. Making sure the Nail Shield is solely on the nail bed and not the cuticle or skin.
  5. Making sure the edges of the Nail Shield are sealed to the nail.

How do I remove the Nail Shields?

There are 2 removal options for Jamberry Nail Shields. For Nail Shields that have been worn for more than 10 days we recommend following the Gentle Removal Process.

Quick Removal Process: Heat the shields with a blowdryer for 15 seconds. Then break the seal by getting under the edge of the shield with your opposite thumb nail. Slowly peel the shield from side to side. If the Nail Shields are not peeling easily or the adhesive is still bonded to the nail bed then follow the Gentle Removal Process.

Gentle Removal Process: Soak the Nail Shields in nail polish remover for 20-30 seconds and gently rub them off. Soaking will break down the adhesive bond and allow them to easily slide off the nail bed.
